<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">The idea of having your own little website intrigued me a lot when I was 13 years old. I proceeded to hit the "create a blog" button without much hesitation, and I have been blogging since. Switching from blogspot to xanga to live journal to tumblr and back to blogspot for the last couple of years, and started out blogging as a digital diary to spill the daily happenings in Secondary school and occasional outburst of emotions, has turned into an avenue of sharing lifestyle content that I am passionate about.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">So after years on blogspot and months of contemplation to move on to a different platform, I am pleased to share the launch of my little pet project therosebreaker with its own .com and a facelift. Click here to be directed.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I am not sure how therosebreaker will turn out to be in the next 10 years, but it has been and will always be close to my heart; one that I am willing to spend time and effort in out of my busy work schedule just to edit photographs, plan content and write. Thank you to those who have been quietly reading my blog all these years, it means a million to me!

Amidst our short trip to Seoul, we managed to squeeze in a day for Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. The train to Busan (no coincidence intended!) via KTX is highly recommended and convenient from Seoul. Well, it is somewhat similar to what you would see in the recent film Train to Busan, of course, minus all the apocalyptic zombies. The KTX train is well equipped with wifi and comfortable seats, where my friends slept through most of the 2.5 hours journey on an early morning. Perhaps they would not sleep in if they were to watch the film before this trip.

Gamcheon Cultural Village — "The East of Santorini". When we first had sight of these colourful lego-like buildings, as tourist as we can get, we could not stop snapping photos away even when it began to rain. The rain stopped and we proceed to spend half a day following a trail based on the village map, where we got an overview of Gamcheon in different angles. There's a thing about these quaint villages and small towns that I really like, I'm not sure what or why exactly, but I guess it is the slow life in such environment that attracts me.

Jalgachi Fish Market — Busan is located by the sea and is eventually known for its fresh seafood. At Jalgachi, you can select your seafood from its array of fresh catch and select get a restaurant to cook it for you or vice versa, choose a restaurant first then your seafood. We did the latter. I'm not so much of a seafood lover, so I wasn't that keen on paying too much for it especially when the prices here are on the higher side even after much bargaining. But trying to be a good sport with my friends, I caved in. Though a tad pricey, what you get are fresh, sweet and juicy seafoods

If time were on our side, we would spend at least 2 days in Busan instead of a day trip which was not sufficient us for us to cover more places. Albeit a short day trip, it was still truly memorable...like how we actually did miss our train back to Seoul by being late for 5 minutes.

One of my personal goal is to participate in a long run before I turn 25. While there are a multiple of such runs in Singapore annually, I have been putting it off as I am always waiting for the day I would be ready physically first before signing up for a long run. When the time came to register for the Yellow Ribbon Run this year, I hesitated for awhile but eventually took a leap of faith and signed myself up for the 10km category, cause I will never be ready if I don't ever start. So with this, I finally began running again.

Running is one of my least favourite form of exercise despite knowing what good it does to my body, but as we know running can be so tiring and difficult. The first three sessions were bad, but I improved from my fourth run onwards, increasing a kilometre to my distance on subsequent run without stopping. With 6.5 weeks, I managed to train up to 8km before the actual run. I'm thinking of consolidating this experience and my ongoing training into a separate post in a few month's time, we'll see how this goes!

The day came and I completed my first ever 10km run, though I personally felt I did not do as well as I hope it to be. As I only have time after work hours to train in the evening or at night, my body was somehow not that conditioned to running under the sun and immense heat. Nevertheless, it is still a milestone to have gone from zero running in years to completing 10km in less than 7 weeks. I believe this would be a good kick start to my future runs and journey to becoming fitter.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">It's Night Festival 2 weekends ago, and following our annual tradition, Nathaniel and I visit Night Fest again for the 3rd year. You can read up on our previous experience here – 2015 and 2014.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">On the morning of that Friday, the 'annual' haze hits Singapore at a PSI level of over 200 and I thought "what a bummer" if we had to put off this year's visit if the haze persists...But the skies and air did clear, so we managed to resume with the plan.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Without saying, the Festival Village is what we looked forward to (mostly because of the fairy lights hovering over the area), though we chose not to dine there this time because of the heat and crowd, but instead we got ourselves a jar of coconut shake to beat the heat. I personally felt this year's Night Fest was a tad on the down side; there weren't anything significant to remember or perhaps I was just too tired after a long week at work to enjoy the experience. Nonetheless, Night Fest is still an event worth looking forward to each year, so till we meet again in 2017!

Back in Seoul this June! Despite my recent visit to this bustling city just last November (read my post here), I have always wanted to return again, but I was not expecting this revisit to happen this soon. So with my leaves approved, flights and accommodation booked in just less than a month before scooting off, I did the itinerary planning quickly and am very thankful that the trip did come to fruition smoothly albeit many clashes in our schedules.

Seoul is really a one stop for:

Fashion and Beauty shopping. If you haven't already know, this city is filled with beauty and cosmetic stores in every corner. I am amazed at how there are more than 3 of the same exact beauty store in just within myeongdong shopping district.

Food food food. Seriously, as long as you are not broke, you never go hungry. Their cafes are beautifully designed and there are just so much food options everywhere, you will have a hard time deciding what to eat. So like us, we were eating everywhere we went.

Visits to heritage sites and sightseeing. While Seoul is a modern city, you will still find heritage sites like the famous Gyeongbokgung Palace or the Namsan Seoul tower in the heart of the city.

Travelling always go by so quickly, and sometimes in a blur within a short period of time, don't they? In this trip, I got to explore a lot more places than before, mingle with the locals (and so glad to have met them in some ways) in attempt to communicate with bits and pieces of Korean, spot countless advertorial posters and standees of Song Joong Ki, had a finger lickin' good time with Korean fried chicken till late and enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship with my church friends whom I grew up with since preschool.

I said this before but I will say again, Seoul will always have my heart with its diverse culture, amicable Koreans, beautiful shops, amazing food and shopping. Thank you for being seoul beautiful and heartwarming. I am missing this city already, but till next time again!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-61505186180873090692016-07-17T23:58:00.001+08:002016-07-17T23:58:45.091+08:00PASARBELLA @ SUNTEC

I am no food blogger but I'll still attempt to give my two cents worth on Pasarbella Suntec, despite it not being a newly open outlet.
(My posts are usually a 1-2 months #throwback anyway, well because of, work.)

To be honest, Suntec City seems a little unexpected to be Pasarbella's second outlet as its first, as most of us would know is located in a relatively secluded grandstand tucked along Bukit Timah road. But I believe for commercial and practical reasons to sustain a business, the prime location at Suntec would drive more crowd and revenue as compared to the grandstand.

Pasarbella Suntec is a rendition of what we Singaporeans might describe as an 'atas foodcourt', with a fusion of cuisines in different stalls side by side, curated in a hipster-ly designed interior to create a lower east NYC sort of vibe, and of course its price points sways significantly higher than a heartland foodcourt. Food wise, I can't say that these are my favourite because I have not tried all the stalls, but Grillo and Rollie Ollie are pretty worth the try. The latter's poke bowls are rather refreshing to my taste buds and it makes me feel a little more refreshed too after the meal, cause we are what we eat right?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-49570373767825033702016-07-04T00:31:00.001+08:002016-07-04T00:31:31.532+08:00MALACCA

A 3-hour drive across the border is equally sunny and sweltering Malacca; where Jonker walk, chendol and Peranakan cuisine (and kueh kuehs) are its highlight. This revisit felt like new yet nostalgic as it brought back some faint recollection from my last trip here a decade ago with my family. Shall allow the above snaps from the trip to speak for itself.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-50582411623758740362016-06-05T20:19:00.003+08:002016-06-05T20:22:33.838+08:00IMAGINARIUM

Delved into a child's territory three Sundays ago at Imaginarium: Over the Ocean, Under the Sea.
As its name suggests, these exhibitions speaks about our nature – specifically the oceans and seas. While the exhibition is relatively kids focused, it relates to viewers of all ages and reminds us adults about saving our Earth.
Go unleash your inner kidult if you haven't visited, it was much fun.
Work has been insane. This pretty much encapsulates my life for the last several weeks, hence the unintended hiatus on this journal. I have come to accept that this journal will receive irregular posts while I am still working in the corporate world. Whatever it is, at this point, I am looking very much forward to a much needed vacation and hoping that all the plans go smoothly so as to make it happen! xAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-49234079591197356942016-03-20T19:36:00.000+08:002016-03-20T19:36:09.826+08:00NATIONAL GALLERY SINGAPORE

The last I visited this site was was back in 2010, the last tour to visit the the Old Supreme Court before it closed for a facelift. Fast forward 5 years, I got to visit the new National Gallery Singapore in its opening week last November to appreciate architecture and a bit of Asian art.

Truth be told, I was concerned if this gallery will turn out to be just like any other typical modern building but I'm glad it wasn't, so heritage won't be lost even when urbanisation or modernity is prevalent. I've always had a penchant for an old-new architecture and interior, and the National Gallery is beautifully revamped and curated with both components. The quietness within the natural light filled space makes it a conducive place to slow down and appreciate its architectural beauty.

National Gallery Singapore is complimentary for all Singaporeans, so do visit if you haven't and there's great restaurants like Odette, Aura, Yan and Violet Oon's that are worth the visit! xAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-73398707914433648852016-03-12T18:32:00.000+08:002016-03-12T18:45:03.502+08:00FINDING TIME & QUIET
Finding time for myself has been a real struggle for the last several months. Sometimes I'm not even sure if it is my bad time management or I'm really that busy, which makes me so tired everyday, slack off on exercising and procrastinating so badly; that I can't seem to schedule in some quiet time to spend with God and for myself.

It seems almost impossible in Singapore, or maybe Asia in general, to slow down where work takes precedence over almost everything else. While the Europeans or Australians somehow get the memo of slow living; enjoying every quality moment. Today, I finally found time – staying home on a Saturday to catch up on the things I've put off for a while, and just sharing some things from the last couple of weeks: Chalkfarm red velvet cupcake, Uniqlo x Lemaire seersucker blouse, Miss Dior blooming bouquet fragrance, succulents, Vulture issue 15 and a cuppa warm green tea.

Have a lovely weekend! xAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-77885765806370625722016-03-05T10:51:00.000+08:002016-03-05T10:51:46.716+08:00LET MISS DIOR BLOOM

Let Miss Dior Bloom – A Dior Parfums exhibition on the iconic Miss Dior fragrance. Miss Dior Cherie Blooming Bouquet has been my favourite scent ever since I first discovered it. It carries a sweet floral scent that isn't too harsh on the nose, yet lingers on and I'm very glad to be part of the exhibition in some small ways because of where I work at.

Here are some sneaks, but if you love fragrance or Dior in general, you should head down to visit the exhibition and also visit the newly open duplex Dior Couture ION boutique, that is adorned with many beautiful art pieces and fashion products of course.
Amidst all the cafes springing up in all corners of Singapore, Curious Palette is one of my new favourite. Apart from its undeniably beautiful (and my dream kind of) interior of greens, white, grey and cute lights, they've got an extensive and value for money menu. I love how they steered away from the usual eggs benedict's and typical breakfast set, instead they've got this too-pretty-to-be-eaten berry ricotta hotcake and a relatively good selection of coffees as well.

If you've been following Facebook or Instagram with #saveastranger a few months back, you might have heard that their head chef is battling with cancer and needed to raise funds for his treatment. The supportive Curious team decided to work on their off-day, every Tuesday, in order to raise sufficient funds while sustain their business and I was glad to support them in what little way I could for a stranger. It is my prayer that Chef Sebastian will recover in no time through the treatment and support from many other strangers.

This cafe tucked along Prinsep Street evokes a sense of slowness and I like that, because working in a fast paced society in Singapore has made me stopped to pause, to take things slowly and to be patient. And as I type this on my MC day (because I'm down with a flu for more than a week), I'm appreciating the slow life a lot more. Because I finally have the day to rest at home, it allowed me some time to update the journal while recuperate before I head back to work hopefully all recovered by then.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-37280992792121395642016-01-17T20:39:00.000+08:002016-06-05T20:53:47.779+08:00#LVSERIES3

Seoul is a bustling city amalgamated with Asian and Western beauty – modern architectures built alongside traditional Korean houses, photogenic European curated cafes along the streets with good coffee, the best Korean fried chicken and kbbq, well dressed and friendly Koreans who willingly helped us with directions despite the language barrier, tons of beauty products, women who just did plastic surgery shopping around Myeong-dong openly with bandage and cast on their face, good shopping, kpop & kdramas.

Don't judge me but I used to spend most of my Secondary school days listening to kpop favourites like Super Junior & 2NE1, chase after kdramas and naturally fell in love with Korea, or anything that seems to start with the letter 'k'. Being back again after 9 years is like rekindling love with an old flame. I may not be into kpop & kdrama anymore but somehow this city will always have a place in my heart, and there's something about Seoul that captivates my soul.

Ann yeong for now Seoul, I'll definitely be back!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-35299057795578135972016-01-01T22:07:00.000+08:002016-01-03T22:52:34.335+08:002016

2015 had been busy and challenging for me; it is my first year I've worked through a full year and learning how to prioritise my commitments at work, in church, in my family with adaquate rest.

I've put off resolutions for a while now because I can't keep up with anything for years and just decided to heck it. But in 2016, I feel the need to live healthier in all aspects of life – perhaps coming to terms that I'm turning 23 this year, makes me a lot more serious about improving my lifestyle or I regret later. And to set goals, I have these resolutions I'm working to achieve despite it going to be a much more hectic year ahead.

1. Read God's words everyday
2. Maintain a regular exercise lifestyle (also means putting off all lazy excuses)
3. Watch my diet (realising my metabolism is no longer like a 20 or 21 year old's)

All in all, it is my prayer to be a thankful and contented person. Easier said that done though; I've been trying but end up sulking and resort to complaining about unhappy moments (like when Aunties dashes up the bus in uncivilised fashion on public transport or when buses do not arrive on time and so much more). In a timely manner, my cousin bought me this beautiful "thankful journal" for Christmas. Basically, I have to pin down 3 things I can be thankful for each day. By focusing on the optimistic instead of dwelling in the pessimistic as an everyday practise, and using a simple planner to organise my schedule, I hope to make a healthy change in my lifestyle physically, mentally and spiritually. Hopefully this would be a journey I can share with others by end of the year.
Have a blessed 2016!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-78397542995137081922015-12-05T12:32:00.000+08:002015-12-06T07:44:26.286+08:0036 HOURS IN JEJU
Ok, first of all, how and where did time go that we're already into the first week of December? Last Christmas still felt recent to me. And just a month ago (and is it a month already?), I was in Korea for my annual leave/vacation with my family to relax and recharge. Fast forward today, I think I'm in need of another round of recharging. But let's face it, we can never get enough rest or holiday isn't it?

Contrary to how I'd usually prep for a travel, I did not read up much on Jeju and went there not really knowing what to expect.

And now that I've been there, I'd say that Jeju might seem a little boring with the lack of "happening" sites or activities but I learnt that it is all about our perspectives. I saw this island as a very serene and calm place, and as you can probably tell from the photographs, it has lots of blues, greens and browns (and reds if you're there during Autumn). The highlight at Jeju was a morning hike at Unesco World Heritage Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. With a great view and exercise (for me), which had my legs go jelly after the hike, no kid...that shows how long I've put exercise aside in my lifestyle – something I need to seriously reflect on. Being surrounded by a concrete jungle, technology, fashion and a fast paced work life every day in Singapore, Jeju was a timely escape to it, although it was only for a short 36 hours.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-25087619824672522482015-11-15T19:33:00.002+08:002015-11-15T19:39:50.287+08:00CARPENTER & COOK
It took me more than 3 years to finally visit Carpenter and Cook despite living just 10-15 minutes away from this whimsical vintage cafe. With a day off from work on my birthday last month, I decided to drop by to have desserts after lunch.

Their beautiful printed flooring tiles first caught my eyes, then an array of pastries and their well displayed vintage collectives and furnitures around the cafe. While the pastries are a little pricey in my opinion (the lemon tart I had for $6.50 is just slightly larger than my camera lens cap), they are homemade and tastes great, so was their coffee.

Overall, Carpenter and Cook is a lovely place to spend some time at in the West whether you are hanging out with your girlfriends, your other half or alone, enjoy a yummy pastry along with a cuppa coffee.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-75867157018586715582015-10-17T20:37:00.001+08:002015-10-17T20:37:45.165+08:00PACKING FOR AUTUMN
I'm one of those checklist freaks when it comes to travel packing. For the fear of missing out on necessities, bringing mismatched clothes, packing too little, packing too much...

With my annual family vacation booked, I can't help but to start preparing a checklist, itinerary and got my itchy fingers busy creating google excel spread sheets to get them planned out. I'm however (or maybe I hope I will be) cool if things do not turn out quite as planned with unexpected change that could be likely to happen.

I'm 3 days away to my birthday and just about 2 more weeks of work till I jet off for a week – forget about work (I hope I'm allowed to) and enjoy the cool Autumn weather. Can't wait!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09840325655730338768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7355624900681676949.post-68352375097339894452015-09-24T23:22:00.000+08:002015-09-24T11:31:11.173+08:00THE REFINERY
Celebrated Nathaniel's birthday last Sunday over lunch at a black and white cafe, The Refinery. I wasn't quite sure what to expect other than having my heart set on trying the Teriyaki Chicken Don and I can understand why it is one of the signature bowl there with its nicely done eggs and tender chicken. I'd like to try other mains off their Brunch menu like Kong Ba Pau sliders and Gyuniku Donburi on my next visit.

If you're looking for a place to dine between Central-East area, do give Refinery a try!

On a side note, I'd like to confess that I really want to steal their marble table back home...#justsaying. I'm for all things marble.

And with N's birthday, it means my birthday is just exactly a month away. How fast; it felt like yesterday I just celebrated my birthday.
Particularly in love with COS' AW15 campaign, with a glacial icelandic (my dream travel destination!!) backdrop featuring Sun Fei Fei and quickly put together a simple flatlay with my quartz necklace with the perfect shade of Dior grey nail polish. And dreaming of having a wardrobe filled with COS...#dream
Have a great weekend!
My shopping ban of purchasing 12-15 pieces of clothing a year has completely went out of control thus far – of which I find many pieces that do not actually suit me or so unfortunately do not fit me well because of my oversight and impulsiveness.
As we approach the last term of the year, I'm hoping to find new owners to take over these goodies. I'm pretty sure it's going to be an annual affair for my boyfriend and I since attending Singapore Night Festival for the first time last year. This year I was particularly interested in the Festival Village – well because it involved food, ice cream, music and fairy lights; a combination of these put together will never go wrong right?

Aside from the Festival Village, the Anooki light animation on National Museum was pretty impressive and adorable. Unfortunately, I did not get to visit every museum and exhibits, and missed most of the later performances because a sleep deprived person like me had to catch up on some rest over the weekend. Which exhibits or performances were your favourite?

I hope to see more of these festivals and carnivals in Singapore each year. I have stopped visiting fleas or even buy anything but Public Garden is sure different from typical fleas — it provides local entrepreneurs, craftsman, designers a platform to sell their works. Here's 2 takeaways from last weekend's Public Garden held at Chijmes in conjunction with Singapore Night Festival.

Breaking out of my usual silhouette with this bubble wings blouse. I was hesitant to click the check out button because I tend to play by the safe side with tried and tested outfits, but I still purchased it anyway and since then, I've been wearing it every other week. It has surprisingly became my go to top when I needed something interesting yet effortless for work or a day out. Sometimes the sleeves does get in the way when I eat or work, but it's all right when it can conceal my un-toned arms in the fastest (cheat) way. Kudos to one of my mini fashion breakthrough out of all the tshirts and sweaters I have.

That aside, I've been working longer hours this week and it felt like the longest and most exhausting week ever despite a 4-days work week. Really needed this #SG50 long weekend to give me a little breather in between another long week that is to come, even though I've to work on a Saturday for an event. I'm in need of sleep and a getaway to recharge.
